Lightning brought the first football Friday of the year to an abrupt halt last week for both Bell and Trenton.
In its Kickoff Classic against Fort White, Trenton had just fallen behind after a long touchdown pass late in the first half.
Before the Tigers had a chance to answer, officials suspended the game due to lightning in the area.
The game did not resume.
In Gainesville, Bell was supposed to open its regular season against Oak Hall, but lightning did not allow the game to even start.
Bell Head Coach Joey Whittington said “It doesn’t look good” when asked if the teams would reschedule the game.
Trenton and Bell now open their regular seasons against each other Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Bell.
Bell has won two of the last three meetings, but has not beaten Trenton in Bell since 2008.
