Danette Wiley, a volunteer at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton, was honored as the 2025 Volunteer of the Year by the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA). The award recognizes a long term care volunteer who has made exceptional contributions to their care center. Wiley earned the adoration of long term care professionals and residents as Ayers’ Volunteer Coordinator and today spends at least 15 hours each week assisting professionals and residents.
“Danette’s kindness and compassion always bring a smile to the faces of staff and residents,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA’s Chief Executive Officer. “Florida’s long term care centers continually raise the bar thanks to volunteers like Danette, and this recognition is well-deserved.”
Wiley has been a dedicated volunteer for the past 10 years, but her story with Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center spans two decades. Her relationship with the center began when she brought her children to volunteer through their 4-H club and during their high school years. Wiley brings energy and a hands-on spirit to everything from coordinating holiday parties and recruiting volunteers to special events like the Ayers’ prom. She is known for spending all day setting up for the center’s community events, bake sales, and socials.
