Head Coach: Drue Barry
Last year’s record: 8-15 (lost to Dixie County in district quarterfinals)
What are your expectations for this season?
Expectations are the same as always: compete in the district, win a district championship and make the playoffs.
You had a little bit of a down year last year. Are you doing anything different this season, or are you maintaining your your offseason program?
Oh, it was a down year last year, probably one of the worst records we’ve had. But in reality, we were so close. We went five sets with a team that beat the team that won state, so, I mean, we were right there. It’s just, we didn’t have a way to finish games, didn’t have kids that could put the ball away. We have that this year.
Who are some players that have showed out during the offseason?
We have a new girl that moved in, Alayna Harvey. She is one of our outsides, and she’s a kid who can absolutely hammer the ball. Dacy Graham, another senior. She’s a right side. A big, strong lefty. Probably the most athletic kid we’ve ever had here. And Gracelynd Joiner-Solis, our other outside. She’s an underclassman. She’s been one of the outsides for several years, and she’s dynamic.
Is there anything that you think everyone needs to know about your team this year?
Just that they’re very strong. They’re tight. And I believe they’re going to be very resilient this year. I don’t thaink there’s going to be a lot that rattles them.
