GCSO’s proactive patrol operations lead to arrest of convicted felon

Proactive patrol operations by the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office in the city of Trenton led to the arrest of a convicted felon
During proactive patrol operations, deputies identified Michael Hennessey, 40, of Trenton, Florida, driving a vehicle while his Florida driver’s license was suspended. Deputies later conducted a traffic stop and took Hennessey into custody for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, according to a GCSO Facebook post
Based on information obtained during the investigation, deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at a camper in Trenton where Hennessey was known to reside.
During the search, deputies located illegal narcotices, firearms and ammunition, the post said.
Further investigation revealed Hennessey was a convicted felon with prior convictions in Gilchrist County. An amended search warrant was obtained and executed, resulting in the seizure of ammunition and multiple firearms, according to the post.
As of Friday, Hennessey was being held at the Gilchrist County Jail on charges including Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Firearms by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Equipment.
According to the post, Sheriff Bobby Schultz praised the proactive work of deputies, stating, “This arrest is the direct result of proactive policing in the City of Trenton. Our deputies are out every day identifying criminal activity before it escalates, and removing dangerous offenders from our community. We will continue to take a proactive approach to keep Gilchrist County safe.”
“The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts and protecting the citizens of Gilchrist County,” the post said.
