Trenton defeated Chiefland for the second night in a row by the same score, 11-4.

Last night’s win did not come with the same level of comfort, however.

After each team pushed across a run in the first, the Indians took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second. Chiefland held that lead into the bottom of the third.

With one out and runners on the corners, Peyton Weatherilt grounded to third for what should have been an inning-ending double play, but the throw from third skipped into the outfield allowing Trenton to tie the game.

The next batter, Ty Moses, went deep to left field to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead that Trenton would never relinquish.

Chiefland would cut the lead to two with a run in the fifth, but Trenton answered with two of its own in the bottom half of the inning.

After another Indian run in the top of the sixth, the Tigers tacked on four more runs to make it 11-4.

Trenton advances to the regional finals where they will face off with No. 2 seed Fort Meade, who swept Marathon on the road this week.

Trenton will host games one and two on Monday and Tuesday. Game 3 would be in Fort Meade on Thursday if the teams split the first two games.
