Monday’s Trenton City Commission meeting doubled as a Community Redevelopment Authority meeting.
Acting as the CRA, the commission agreed to make renovating the community center its priority.
City Manager Brittany Mills gave a presentation on what can be done at the community center as well as at the southeast park and depot park.
Mills’s presentation included new floors, upgraded countertops and cabinets in the kitchen, a new front door and redoing the stage.
Commissioner Randy Rutter added that work needs to be done to the parking lot at the community center.
Rutter said the parking lot floods easily, making it difficult to park and get out of a car.
Along with improved drainage in the parking lot, Rutter said a cover should be added to the back door to prevent water damage in that area.
The commission will request bids for the work they want done on the community center and move forward from there.
