Ayers residents enjoy August events

By Emily Maurer
August has been a busy month for our residents. We have been very busy with community events and parties.
We started our month out strong with birthday bash. Hardeetown Baptist Church from Chiefland came out and brought cupcakes to share. They handed out presents to all of our birthday residents. Celebrating and connecting with the residents Hardeetown brought as many people as they could gather to spread and share joy.
Grandma’s cuddle clinic was born because we wanted to bring our community together as well as show what we do to help our residents be the best they can be. Staff’s kids and kids from the community all came and brought their favorite stuffed animal for a checkup, a therapy session and some cuddles. We had a shimmery blue backdrop with bear balloons hanging down and little bear streamers coming down. We passed out cookies and juice boxes for everyone to enjoy.
In the middle of the month, we had our hoedown party. There was wanted posters with some of the residents faces hung up through out the dinning room. Our cutouts Harold the horse, Bill the bull, and Dolly Parton joined us. We had a special guest come and sing for us, it was our lovely resident Lydia dressed from head to toe as Dolly Parton. We had a wonderful time. Dirt pudding, animal crackers and donut holes to snack on and drank root beer out of a cowboy boot shaped cup.
The day after that we honored our residents and their families with a Family Tree Celebration. The entryway, dinning room, and clubhouse were set up in sunflower décor. We had a slideshow made of pictures families sent in playing in each room. We did a raffle for the family members. Our administrator, Nicole Sulley, gave a beautiful thank you speech. Punch, fruit, cake, and muffins were given to all. We appreciate our families deeply and we are so thankful to be apart of our residents Ayers family.
We appreciate how much the families, staff, and volunteers all do to help Ayers be a family and not just a business.
Upcoming events for September are:
9/2 – Birthday Bash; 9/4 – Float Party; 9/11 – Michael Jackson Party; 9/15 – Boutique; 9/18 – Football Party
