Ayers holds Christmas in July for residents

By Emily Maurer
Friday, July 17th we did Christmas in July. Mr. and Mrs. Claus came down on vacation from the North Pole to pass out smiles and candy canes dressed in their ready for the heat Hawaiian shirt and dress, followed with flip-flops to pull the outfit together. They started down our short-term hall and took pictures with every excited resident. It was such a joyful experience to see everyone’s faces light up as they walked in. They made their way to the main dining room for the party. The walls were decked out in sparkling streamers and banners show casing sandy snowmen enjoying a sunny July day at the beach. At the back there was a tropical cruise ship photo scene, glittering palm trees and giant red and green Christmas light bulbs hung from the ceiling. Mr. and Mrs. Claus rested in wicker chairs set up in the middle of the glimmering palm trees ready to take pictures with all. Residents lined up and filled our dining room with the wonderful sound of laughter and conversation. Spreading Christmas cheer our wonderful volunteers stepped up to make the day bright and merry. We spend out a special thank you to Center Well Home Health for providing us with an abundance of cookies and fruit punch for all who attended the party.
Mark your calendars for Grandma’s Cuddle Clinic, August 7th at 2 pm. Bring your favorite stuffed animal for a check up from one of our nurses to make sure they are staying healthy, help them stretch their body with therapy to keep their muscles strong, and finally let a resident help comfort them with a tight hug. We are so excited to see new your plush friends and make sure they are feeling their best.
We are always looking for helping hearts and hands to put a smile on our residents faces. We hold our volunteers very highly and we recognize how hard they work. We are always thankful for their open hearts to help and their strong hands that hold the hand of a resident who needs some comfort, hand out plates and drinks at parties, donate what is needed, get in the dirt and grow our beautiful gardens, and so much more. We would love some helpers in August for those willing to help. The 5th we will need some help with Birthday Bash. This is the monthly birthday party we have for those who have a birthday that month. We have a wonderful band and amazing people who bring cake, drinks and presents but we are lacking in support during the party passing out plates and drinks.
