Based on the results of a circulation audit conducted for July to December 2025 and discussions with the Florida Press Association, the Gilchrist County Herald meets the criteria listed in statute 50.011 of the 2025 Florida State Statutes regarding newspapers that can publish legal notices.
“This is an important step in the growth of the Herald,” owner and editor Matthew Harrell said. “Publishing legal notices begins to get the paper the revenue it needs to grow, both in terms of the size of the paper as well as beginning to build a staff.
“This gets us closer to being able to not only cover more of what is important to Gilchrist County, but also to cover these stories in a more in-depth manner,” Harrell said.
