Tigers win third straight state title

Trenton took home its third straight softball state championship last week.
The Tigers defeated Madison County in the semifinals and Liberty County in championship game.
The Tigers’ semifinal win was a low-scoring pitchers’ duel as Trenton took a 1-0 win.
Addison Allaire threw a no-hitter, striking out 16 Madison County hitters while allowing just three walks, and the Tigers took advantage of a couple mistakes from the Cowgirls’ defense to plate the eventual winning run in the fifth inning.
After the one-run win the day before, the Tigers’ offense exploded against Liberty County.
The Tigers plated four runs in both the first and second innings, then tacked on five more in the fourth.
Allaire allowed just one run on four hits, and the Tigers run-ruled the Bulldogs by a score of 13-1.
The state-champion Tigers ended the season with a record of 25-3.
