Tiger baseball wins region, advances to state for third year in a row

Trenton baseball swept Williston Friday and Saturday to clinch its third straight trip to the Final Four.
On Friday, The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Despite not scoring over the final six innings, Williston never threatened, scoring just once in the fifth inning, and Trenton took game one of the series by a score of 6-1.
Saturday afternoon, the Tigers would plate two in the first inning and one more in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
Trenton scored five more runs in the fifth.
Williston got two back in the bottom half of the inning, but that would be the only resistance the Red Devils could muster as the Tigers finished off the two-game sweep with an 8-2 win.
The Tigers will now travel to Fort Myers for the Final Four.
They will face Holmes County Wednesday at 1 p.m..
The winner will advance to the state championship game on Thursday at 4 p.m..
