Bell Town Clerk Michelle Rose resigned at Thursday night’s meeting.
Rose will remain for the next four weeks as the town works on how to move forward.
Bell will be reverting its clerk position to its original responsibilities as listed by the town charter.
The clerk position had taken on some of the duties of a town manager, but, going forward, the clerk will only be required to attend meetings, take the minutes and sign checks.
Town Councilwoman Katie Lovett originally moved to revert the clerk position to its original duties and hire a town manager, but that motion failed due to lack of a second.
So Lovett made a new motion just to revert the clerk position back to its original duties, which was seconded by Troy Terry and passed unanimously.
Lovett then made another motion to hire a part-time office employee, which also passed unanimously.
The office employee will work 30 hours per week with an hourly wage based on education and experience.
The town will hold a workshop to discuss how they will move forward with replacing Rose and the possibility of a town manger or office worker on Thursday Feb. 26 at 6 p.m..
