The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with Ginnie Springs Outdoors.
The goal of the agreement is to make Ginnie Springs safer and more family friendly.
According to the agreement, Ginnie Springs Outdoors will ensure that all marketing will clearly state that Ginnie Springs is “Family Friendly” and that firearms, public nudity, the distribution of controlled substances and the consumption of alcohol by individuals under 21 are prohibited.
The agreement also sets parking areas to keep cars off of nearby roads during high-attendance periods; a minimum number of traffic control, security and emergency medical staff and quiet hours (midnight to 5 a.m.).
The agreement states that the BOCC does not have any liability for ensuring security at the park or for any illegal activity that occurs on the Ginnie Springs Outdoors property.
Sheriff Bobby Schultz said Ginnie Springs is headed in the right direction.
Fire Chief James Campbell said EMS ran three calls this past Memorial Day weekend.
The BOCC also approved a chip and seal quote for five roads in the county totaling 5.3 miles.
The quote from Asphalt Paving Systems in Zephyrhills was for $492,734.96. It would be to put millings down on SW 10th Street, SE 80th Street, SE 80th Avenue and SW 70th Street.
County Administrator Bobby Crosby said $500,000 had been budgeted for this, but it could end up costing more than the quoted price.
Commissioner Bill Martin moved to approve the project with an extra 10 percent in case of a price increase and to approve a budget amendment if necessary. The vote was unanimous to approve.
