Florida Statute requires that the membership of the Early Learning Coalition’s Board of Directors include individuals who are appointed by the Governor. Currently, there are two vacancies in this category of membership on the Board of Directors. Applications are to be submitted directly to the Office of the Governor through an online application process which can be found at http://www.flgov.com/appointments.
The Early Learning Coalition of the Nature Coast serves Citrus, Dixie, Gilchrist, Levy and Sumter counties providing oversight and implementation for Florida’s School Readiness Program as well as Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program. The Coalition serves 1,911 children each month through the School Readiness Program which provides financial assistance with the high cost of quality child care for low-income working families. While families work towards self-sufficiency, their children have access to early childhood education programs which prepare them for future school success. The Coalition also administers the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program which provides access to early learning programs to 1,728 four-year-olds. Through a network of 96 contracted early learning providers, high quality early education and care services are provided throughout the Coalition’s 5-county service area.
