Rotary honors Donna Lee Brunson, hears from newspaper

The Rotary Club of Gilchrist County honored President Donna Lee Brunson at this week’s meeting.
In her last meeting as president, incoming president John Frazier presented her with a plaque with a gavel in honor of her two years of service as the club’s president.
Afterward, the Rotary Club heard from Matthew Harrell (me), owner of the Gilchrist County Herald.
The club learned that the Herald needs to reach 500 subscribers to qualify for periodical mailing privileges from the US Postal Service, which would also qualify the paper for legal advertisements. Our local governments and lawyers currently have to publish their legal notices in papers outside the county.
Having legal notices in the Gilchrist County Herald benefits both the county and the paper as legal notices provide important information for citizens and provide stable income for the paper.
Mailed newspaper subsribers will start receiving a monthly postcard with coupons from local businesses next month.
The postcard is included in the price of a mailed subscription. More information, as well as a QR code to subscribe to the paper, is on Page 4.
