Pat Hodge Philman announces candidacy for School Board District 4

My name is Pat Hodge Philman. I am a candidate for School Board District 4 in Gilchrist County.
I am committed to serving the students, teachers, staff, and parents of our Gilchrist County Schools.
My qualifications include:

  • Associate Degree in Education from Lake City Community College
  • Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Florida
  • Master Degree in Media Education from Nova Southeastern University
  • 25 years teaching experience in Gilchrist County
  • 6 years Sunday School Teacher for young adults at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church
  • 6 years Children’s Church Teacher for ages 4 years to 4th grade at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church


My platform is:

  • Improving Reading, Math and Science skills for all students, district wide
  • Improving teacher support from Schools and The School Board
  • Continuing to make our schools a safer environment for students, teachers and staff
  • Partnering with teachers, staff, School Board and parents to develop a district wide discipline plan, so that all students can receive a great education.


I am married to Emory Philman. I have 5 children who all graduated from Gilchrist County Schools.
I have a grandson who attends Bell High School, a granddaughter who attends Bell Middle School, a grandson who attends Bell Elementary School and one great granddaughter who attends Trenton Elementary School. As you can see, I have a very real interest in education in Gilchrist County.
I believe I am qualified to be a School Board Member and would like the opportunity to serve our students, teachers, staff and parent of Gilchrist County.
