Members of the Bell FFA were recognized for their achievements at last week’s School Board meeting.
“Our CTE department as a whole is one of the strengths of our school,” BHS Principal Brent Douglas said. “That’s certainly in large part due to the hard work of Brett Wasden and Debbie Jones, our ag teachers.”
“Some of these students work for years to earn this recognition,” FFA Adviser Brett Wasden said.” So we’re very proud of you.”
Five groups were honored. First was the Ag Business team comprised of Aubrey Ezratty, Hunter Laneau, Aidan Molnar and Alaina Thomas.

The team finished fifth in the state. Wasden said the team was self-coached and self-taught.
The next group was the Forestry team of Jordan LeFebvre, Fisher Langford, Hunter Laneau, Jackson LeFebvre, Aubrey Legler, Rocco Iovinelli and Alyssa Weeks.
Wasden said the team has worked together for the last three years and hiked every Friday from August to October to get ready for its competition. He said this is the first Forestry team from BHS to win first place at the district competition since the 80’s. The team finished third in the state.
The third group was students who excelled in their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects. Those students were Lizzie Bagby and Braley Hines.

The fourth group was made up of Braley Hines, who was a national finalist for Outdoor Recreation; Lizzie Bagby, a Star Greenhand finalist and one of the top four in the state for her project; Alaura Brown, a state Star Chapter finalist; and state Star Farmer winner Alaina Blair.
Wasden said Bell had three national finalists for proficiency awards. Bell was the only chapter to have more than one finalist.
The last group was the Agricultural Issues team that won the state championship and was in the Top-16 in the nation.
The team included Jordan Lefebvre, Fisher Langford, Braley Hines, Justin Nash, Abby McGowan and Jackson Lefebvre.

“We are so proud of our students,” Wasden said. “This is just a small portion of our success.”
