Members of American Legion Post 91 presented a check for $18,000 to the Gilchrist County Historical Society.
The money will go toward a new monument for Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and other ongoing conflicts.
With American Legion Post 91 closing, the Post donated funds for a new monument in the county’s Monument Garden near the courthouse and the County Commission’s meeting chambers.
As well as commemorating those who have fought in OEF and OIF, the monument will feature the logo of Post 91 to preserve the Post’s memory.
