Trenton falls short in defensive struggle with Branford

On Friday October 6th, 2023 the Trenton Tiger Football team hosted the Branford Buccaneers. This game was a hard fought game by both teams. The first quarter was a head to head battle by both teams. Both teams were able to keep each other off the board in the first quarter. Punt after punt is how the first quarter went on Friday. The Tigers would punt then the Bucs would punt. At the end of the first quarter the game was tied 0-0. At the start of the second quarter the Bucs immediately got to work. On their first possession of the second quarter the Bucs traveled down the field to score the first points of the game. That brought the score to 6-0. After the extra point was made that brought the score to 7-0. After the Bucs scored the Tiger offense tried going to work. The Tigers had some great plays but were never actually successful. The Tigers couldn’t find the end zone in the first half of play on Friday night. After halftime the Tigers needed to really get going. They did. With the Tiger defense going to work the Tiger offense wanted to repay them. The Tigers marched down the field and scored a touchdown in the third quarter of play. Quarterback Jackson Gentry was the player that made the touchdown. With the Tigers on the board that brought the game to a score of 7-6. After the touchdown the Tigers decided that they wanted to go for two. The Tigers tried to go for two but the pass didn’t make it in the end zone. After the missed two point attempt the Tiger defense got back to work. The Tiger defense stopped the Buccaneers for the rest of the third quarter. The Buccaneer defense stopped the Tiger defense as well. The fourth quarter of the game was a defensive effort by both teams. Both teams defense played huge roles in the game and kept the fourth quarter scoreless. The final to the game was 7-6 with the Buccaneers taking the win. On Friday October 13th, the Tigers will take on the Bronson Eagles at Home for The Tigers homecoming.
