The Supervisor of Elections Office missed a payment to Dominion, the company that makes voting machines, because the invoice was sent to an email address that does not exist.
The total cost on the invoice was $18,059.04 and covered licenses, firmware and warranties for the county’s voting systems.
The money will come out of the general fund, but it will actually be covered by the money the Supervisor of Elections Office gave back to the county.
The Supervisor of Elections Office is required by law to return its excess monies to the county by Oct. 31, but it did not actually receive the invoice until Nov. 7.
Clerk of Court Todd Newton said reversion from the Supervisor of Elections Office more than covered the cost of the invoice.
The payment of the invoice will be recorded under last year’s budget and attached to the reversion from the Supervisor of Elections Office.
Also at Monday’s meeting, Commissioner Darrell Smith was named Board Chairman for the upcoming year.
Commissioner Bill Martin was named Board Vice-Chairman for the upcoming year.
Martin also held that title last year.
