Bible Talk with Kent Heaton

The most popular day of the week is TOMORROW. This day has been used to boast of things to be put off until that day comes. It is the great enemy of advancement because it never comes, yet we believe it is real. Boasting of tomorrow is the lazy man’s way of evading the duties of today. Tomorrow is the busiest day of the week because more gets accomplished on this day than any other.
There is nothing more deceiving than believing that tomorrow will come. What happened before is called yesterday, and what could happen is tomorrow. The only real time we have is this moment on this day. Tomorrow never comes, and that’s a good thing. Considering everything we want to do tomorrow, there will never be enough days to accomplish all that is put off until that day comes. Satan has a very deceptive plan for many people. He is not so concerned if a man believes in God or not so long as the man decides to serve the Lord tomorrow. Making life decisions need not take precedence over the attractions of tomorrow. Do not hastily do anything today. Wait until tomorrow comes to finish the task.
The wise man said, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1). There is nothing to assume about tomorrow because there is no promise of another day. All the plans made today for tomorrow seldom turn out as we desire. There is nothing to fear about tomorrow. God does not want us to worry our lives about what could or may happen on a day that never comes. The only promise we have is today. Putting things off until tomorrow will never accomplish anything. A diet started tomorrow will never lose weight. Saying “I love you” tomorrow will not change the heart today. Living as if tomorrow is real makes life unreal.

When the heart lives fully with the grace of God today, all the tomorrows blend into the grace of God with joy and thanksgiving. Tomorrow is a day of consequences. If we do not prepare for eternity, we will not find any hope in death. Too many live without making preparations for their eternal spirit, and that becomes folly. The only true tomorrow is looking for the day when death separates us from the bondage of time to be with God in eternity. God has promised to give us hope in the eternal tomorrow. Jesus died to take away the fear of death so we could live in a home with the Divine. That is the great tomorrow promised by Jesus Christ.
