My name is Lisa Slaughter Darus, and I am a Republican candidate for Supervisor of Elections of Gilchrist County.
I am the daughter of Jimmy and Susie Slaughter and a fifth-generation resident of Gilchrist County, born and raised. I have been married to my husband, Tommy, for nine years, and we have two sons, Jarrett and Greyson. Jarrett will attend Webber International University this fall, and Greyson is a first grader at Trenton Elementary School.
Tommy and I have been lifelong Republicans and are widely involved in community activities such as the Republican Executive Committee of Gilchrist County, SVL coaches, and Gilchrist County Education Foundation, to name a few.
For the past 15 years, I have worked in the Gilchrist County Elections Office and have been involved in over 30 local, state, and federal elections where the will of the voters of our great county was carried out fairly and accurately.
In addition to ensuring every election is conducted correctly, I also help lead election worker training, fulfill public record requests, register voters, handle all state and local petitions, and numerous other duties.
In my 15 years in the office, I have also attended trainings and classes, and I stay up-to-date and well-versed in election law and procedure, which is ever-changing.
One of the liberties we enjoy living in America is having free and fair elections. We have enjoyed that in Gilchrist County, and I pledge to continue to ensure that liberty is upheld and that democracy is protected for our voters.
I look forward to meeting many of you and would love to speak with you. Please call me anytime at 352-535-7217 or email me at Darus4SOE@gmail.com.
